KJTL is a Fox-affiliated television station and licensed to Wichita Falls, Texas. Mission Broadcasting is the owner of the station. The Studios are located near Seymour Highway and Turtle Creek Road in Wichita Falls. Three channels share these studios in which KJTL, KJBO, and KFDX-TV are included. The station was founded on 14 May 1985, and the first show aired 33 years ago on the same date. The call letter meaning of network is “Janet T. Lee”.

History

Two groups applied for the construction permit of channel 18 in Federal Communications Commission. City Media, Inc filed the application on 17 March 1982 for the channel 18.  After 1 and half month, on 30 April, Thornberry TV Ltd applied separately. On 28 November 1983, FCC approved the permit to Thornberry. Thornberry was granted the call letters KJTL in August 1984. So, the station signed on the air on 14 May 1985 in Wichita Falls. Thornberry gave the ownership to Wichita Falls Television in 1986.

It inaugurated programming on 9 October 1986 and networks become affiliated with Fox Broadcasting Company. Wichita Falls decided to sell out the station on11 May 1989. BSP Broadcasting purchased the station for $1.587 million and the sale completed on 29 June 1989. After that, Epic Broadcasting acquired the station and announced to sale the station in May 1995. Wicks Broadcast Group purchased the station for $14 million and the sale completed on 31 August 1995. On 6 January 1999, Wicks sold the network to Mission Broadcasting for $15.5 million.  Nexstar and Quorum Broadcasting formed a partnership with Mission broadcasting. On 1 June 1999, Nexstar took over the operation of the station and its sister channel KJBO. Now, Nexstar Broadcasting Group is the operator of the station.

Hell’s Kitchen

It is a reality competition program in which 12 to 20 chefs participate. A Single winner is announced over the course of one season.

Last Man Standing

It is a sitcom follows the story of  Mike Baxter. He is the senior executive marketer and lives with his life and three daughters and a grandson in Colorado.
