History

KNOE singed on air on Sep 27, 1953 as most powerful station in American South. It is the oldest surviving news channel in northern part of Louisiana. KNOE in its beginning years with linked with all four television networks including ABC, CBS, DuMont and NBC while also having an affiliation with NTA Film Network for a brief period of time. It dropped ABC in 1972 upon the launch of KTVE and became a primary NBC and ABC station. Noe the founder of the television passes away in 1976 and his son James Noe, Jr. took over.

Jimmie managed the channel until 2007 before releasing it to Hoak Media operating from Dallas; the deal consummated on Oct 3, 2007. Noe family had already released KNOE AM to Holladay Broadcasting in Nov 2006 and KNOE-FM in the ensuing year. The media assets were sold following the death of James, Jr. because of cancer in 2005. The channel began to air syndicated content in HD on Aug 25, 2010.

Gray Television on Nov 30, 2013 revealed its plans to acquire Hoak Media for USD 335mn in a bid to bring the company back to Monroe-El Dorado market as Gray previously held KTVE from 1967 to 1996 when it sold it. Parker Broadcasting was also included in the deal and after the acquisition of the company, it became clear that Gray would operate KAQY linked with ABC under an LMA.
