History
Onondaga Country school Board Association established WCNY-TV on 20 December 1965. Onondaga Country School Association is a non-profit organization which was working under the New York State Education Department. It is also known as the Public Broadcasting Council of Central New York. The equipment of the channel donated by General Electric which provided studios to WCNY-TV, located on Old Liverpool Road in the eastern end of Salina. In the beginning, WCNY-TV affiliated with National Educational Television and then affiliation is given to Public Broadcasting Service in 1970. WCNY-TV (Channel 42) has become first television station in 2006 to produce and broadcast their own programs in Syracuse.
